Shield spell vs Fortify Armor skill[edit]

From what I've read on the wiki, it seems that a fortify armor skill is cheaper and more effective than using a shield spell.

If this is true, I think it would be worth a mention on the page, but since this is my first uespWiki entry, I didn't want to just charge ahead without some consensus --PouncingAnt 13:43, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it indeed would be a good thing to add, especially since the article is very low on information.
Let's take for an example that we have used a 100pts Shield spell. It adds 100 Armor Rating. Since Shield spell base cost is 2 and Fortify Skill's is 1 we could cast 200pts Fortify Skill for the same amount of magicka. Using the formula from the Morrowind:Combat page we see that AR for each piece of armor is BaseAR * ( ArmorSkill / 30 ) = AR. Our armor skill has been increased by 200, and the AR must be higher than 100 (the amount raised by the Shield spell) for us to prove our point. So now it's:
BaseAR * ( 200 / 30 ) > 100
BaseAR * 6,67 > 100
BaseAR > 15
And here is our solution: if the base Armor rating of your armor is higher than 15, the same size Fortify Skill spell be cheaper and more effective than the same size Shield spell. If it's not use the Shield spell. --Kertaw48 16:08, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

The Xth Barrier[edit]

The shield scrolls have names about the barrier, the first through sixth barrier, and then the scroll of the ninth barrier. The scroll of the ninth barrier, which also has poison as an effect, reads "THE NINTH BARRIER CAN NOT EXIST". Do we have any information about what all these barriers might be?
