Command Creature

Considering he is only level 1, any Command Creature spell should work. I have tried this with several different variations of magnitude and length, yet he only looks in the direction I move to; he does not even flinch. I have tried the RA command (resetting actors) and he moves back to his original spot, but then becomes frozen yet again when I use the Command spell. Can anyone explain this, as the article states it should be possible to lure him elsewhere. Ahov 09:39, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

I just tried it with a Scroll of Supreme Domination and had no problem. You have to move away from the MM before it starts to follow you, and it moved so slowly that you'll have an almost impossible time getting it to move anywhere useful. –rpeh^{•T•C•E•} 16:53, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

It literally does not move at all. Trust me, I was patient with it. I tried walking 30 feet away and then waiting for it; nothing happened. I tried moving far out of sight to see if it would come. A minute later I made my way back, it was still there. What it does is look at me and change direction when I am within three feet of it, but it never moves in my direction. Not on Xbox?

I just tried Commanding the merchant to follow me on Xbox GOTY, using the Bosmer's Beast Tongue power. He followed me. After I swam the channel to Mzahnch, though, he started to repeatedly enter the water and then circle back to shore. If someone else manages it, I'd like to hear how it it was done. That's not specific to the XBOX. It's just a pathing problem. Try casting water walking on the mudcrab and see if it helps to get it into the water. Or if it's stuck, reload and try a different route. --Legoless 14:57, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Rename

I've proposed that the article should be moved to Morrowind:Mudcrab (merchant), as is usually done when two entities have the same name. The creature isn't actually called "Mudcrab Merchant", so it seems misleading to name the article as such. —Legoless 11:21, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

FWIW, he does identify himself as "mudcrab merchant" in his dialogue, though uncapitalized, and preceded by "talking". Anyhow, if this page IS renamed, this should definitely remain as a redirect. He's known as "Mudcrab Merchant" throughout the Morrowind community, and that's where people would expect to find the page. inventory limit?

Thought it might be worth mentioning that after selling mudcrab pretty much all my loot over the course of a game, to the tune of over 5 million gold, I apparently hit some sort of inventory limit or bug, and he keeled over (after selling an item, then resting). Next time I rested, he was gone for good. I still need to test if the limit is a hard number (I plan on buying back some cheap stuff), but should this be mentioned as a note in the article?
