Reputation point?[edit]

I killed Foryn, collected my 500 drakes and gave the ring back to Thavere, but I haven't gained a reputation point. Is this a bug, or is the reputation point somehow 'lagged'? M'aiqM'aiq thinks talk serves no purpose. 17:00, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

You do not receive a reputation point for this quest. Perhaps the editor mistakenly thought he got a point from Death of a Taxman when it was actually from helping Vodunius Nuccius.--69.14.253.46 19:57, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

Cool glitch[edit]

There's a nice little glitch in the quest where, if you don't talk to the fruitcup in the Census and Excise Office till after the murderer is dead, you don't have to give back the 200 Gold you found on the guy's body and you still get the 500 for killing the dude. Awesome! Darth Cronus 11:41, 8 December 2007 (EST) — Unsigned comment by Maximus Bane83 (talkcontribs) at 16:41 on 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Already mentioned in the notes. Oh, and less of the 'fruitcup', please. --Gaebrial 08:10, 10 December 2007 (EST)

Video walkthrough[edit]

I found this video walkthrough on Youtube (it's not mine) - is it ok how I've included it? I found it very helpful when trying to find the body. — Unsigned comment by Reve (talkcontribs)

Video walkthrough of this quest
We don't typically include this kind of thing on quest pages, so I'm moving the link here for now. Thanks for the find though! –Eshetalk 17:49, 8 June 2009 (EDT)

Missing body with Morrowind Overhaul[edit]

I don't know exactly why but the mans body is completely missing with the overhaul installed. To get around this I just loaded up the vanilla version of the game on my save and found him about 2 steps away from where I was looking. I even used TCL to fly through the ground thinking the grass or some errant rock was blocking my view, but nope; he just didn't exist. Funny enough there was a nearby rat wanting to chomp me as well. — Unsigned comment by 74.139.160.44 (talk) at 21:39 on 29 July 2018 (UTC)

The Overhaul is a third party mod, and mods are, with only the exception of the unofficial patches, not documented on these pages. —MortenOSlash (talk) 09:48, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

Index 20[edit]

"I've spoken to Socucius Ergalla in Seyda Neen about Processus Vitellius. Socucius wants to know if I found the tax money he'd collected on the corpse."

How do I get this entry? It doesn't appear, and when I use console Ergalla won't ask about the evidence. — Unsigned comment by 83.7.235.103 (talk) at 21:21 on 29 February 2024 (UTC)

You need to find the body and take the tax record from it, then speak with Socucius Ergalla. You need to have the tax record in your inventory when talking to Socucius in order to receive the dialogue response which sets this quest index and allows the quest to progress. Looting the body is mentioned in the Detailed Walkthrough, but I've also added the detail about taking the tax record to the Quick Walkthrough since having it is key to continuing the quest. — Wolfborn(Howl) 05:49, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
I have never bothered with talking with Socucius Ergalla before confronting Foryn Gilnith. The tax record suggests Gilnith is a suspect, and he confesses when asked. After killing him, you drop all the cash on the table and go collect the reward from Ergalla. -- Brf (talk) 14:59, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Yes, you can complete the quest that way too, but the OP asked specifically about Index 20 and how to get it to appear. Either way, you still need to find the body (which unlocks the murder of Processus Vitellius topic) and get the tax record (unless you've done the quest before and are metagaming). — Wolfborn(Howl) 20:28, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
