Region[edit]

In regards to this, the historical settlement was a part of Whiterun Hold and was located roughly here. Falkreath might receive taxes from "Granite Hill" but since it doesn't appear as a physical place I think we should defer to the historical position. This is the problem with combining political and geographic regions. Only alternative would be the Western Plains maybe; regardless, it's certainly not in the Pine Forest. —Legoless (talk) 19:26, 27 February 2014 (GMT)

The in-game map of Skyrim (this one, of which I have the physical version) clearly indicates the crossroads where Granite Hill is/was meant to be located being in Falkreath Hold (as does the existent GraniteHillLocation (which is also still named as the parent location of four cells in the area you've indicated, so it's not that we don't have a specific location for Granite Hill) in the game files, which has Falkreath Hold, not Whiterun Hold as the parent location). As for geography, the area also around the crossroads has a grove of pine trees and a few of those spindly dead trees from The Reach that look like juniper trees, so it's something of a geographical hybrid. In fact, it's incredibly close to border to The Reach, and as far as geography goes, it's being partially surrounded by mountains makes it arguably part of The Reach, too. Personally, I think it'd be best to either mark it as being part of Falkreath Hold, as it is in-game, which we've done for Labyrinthian, regardless of what the Holdings of Jarl Gjalund has said, or to omit region altogether as I did before. Sorry, I hadn't noticed this has been a recurring issue before editing. We know that Granite Hill is "near" the burial mound, but considering that the burial mound is right at the crossroads, it could've reasonable been located within the modern borders of three different holds (those borders may have changed over the years). Personally, I think the name suggests it was located at Fort Sungard's present location, which is in the Reach. Ultimately, I think we should just note the situation, but if people insist on filling out the parameter, there should be an intnote explaining the situation. Back to my break! The ingame, unmarked location is just a bit south and east of Fort Sungard, near the bottom of the cliffs that the Fort sits on top of. --Morrolan (talk) 20:11, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
