Vale Deer[edit]

Similar to normal deer, vale deer are only found in the Forgotten Vale. They have a unique greenish glow in their eyes and hide until death.

Vale Sabre Cat[edit]

Vale Sabre Cats are large, hostile cats with sizable teeth. They are very dangerous and will attack wildlife and people without hesitation, often ignoring the former in favor of the latter. A vampire, or vampyre, is a preternatural being, commonly believed to be a reanimated corpse, which consumes the blood of sleeping persons at night, thralls, and other victims. The vampires of Tamriel are undead, diseased persons who are hated, hunted, and misunderstood by the living. Whether they consider themselves cursed or blessed, or whether they have given into their animalistic instincts or have sought to rid the world of the disease, vampires are nonetheless considered abominations. Though it's possible for a vampire to find a cure, knowledge of how to do so has been suppressed in many places due to the fear that it would encourage people to deliberately infect themselves. Imperial culture views vampires as destructive monsters to be hunted and destroyed. Romantic notions of noble, virtuous vampires persisted in Imperial traditions through the Third Era, and vampires were thought to pass unrecognized in the Mages Guild and the Imperial aristocracy.

Vampires are classified as the accursed undead, as their undead status arises from the curse of vampirism as opposed to a necromancer's manipulation of the buried dead. While some vampires claim to have a heartbeat, others have claimed that their heartbeats ceased after contracting vampirism. While vampires' capabilities often include incredible speed, advanced mystical talent, and unnatural strength, their ability to spread the infection to others - a fate often described as worse than death - is among the most frightening. Distrust and chaos can potentially bring down entire settlements should just one vampire infiltrate the populace. It is a common misconception that vampires have an inherent weakness to garlic. Vampires have no such weakness.

Vampires spread their affliction by giving mortals diseases such as Porphyric Hemophilia, Sanguinare Vampiris, and Noxiphilic Sanguivoria. Infections are caused by being bitten or scratched by a vampire. Sanguinare Vampiris and Porphyric Hemophilia both have a three-day incubation period, inwhich the infected will become a vampire after the allotted time has passed. These diseases can be cured as any other disease could before the three-day period has passed. Vampires infected by either of those two strains are weakened by the sunlight.

Vampires tend to be organized into many different clans or covens; in fact, there are over a hundred distinct varieties of vampire in Tamriel. Some creatures are often found near vampire lairs. Examples include death hounds and gargoyles, which can often be found guarding vampire lairs.

Vampire Lord[edit]

The Vampire Lord is a powerful type of vampire, being much closer to being pure-blooded, although they do not necessarily have to be. Vampire Lords are tall humanoid bat-like creatures with sharp, sometimes poisonous talons and small wings. These creatures can shift between their original forms and the Vampire Lord form at will. They are also capable of using magic, and can also transform themselves into a cloud of bats to pass small distances or even mist to become temporarily invincible.

This gaunt and sharp-toothed Daedra is aggressive and mindless, and typically attacks all who approach. It is said that the Vermai have no thoughts, and therefore cannot fear. They have sometimes responded to attempts at communication, but never in any intelligible way, considered to be one of the most idiotic Daedra.[1] Those who summon them can control them through pacifying helmets.[2] They have often served Mehrunes Dagon.

Verminous Fabricant[edit]

Verminous Fabricants are construct created by Sotha Sil in his Clockwork City. An artificial creature with synthetic legs and tail, it acts fast and agile and attacks with the large fang on its head. Its components can be safely imbibed and are potent speed potions.

Voriplasm[edit]

A Voriplasm is an amorphous blob of sentient green slime, mostly found in Black Marsh, that can strip creatures down to the bone within moments. Voriplasms can then envelop and puppeteer the remaining skeletal structure of their victims as a "voriplasmic corpse".[3]

A scavenger bird that feeds on carrion. Terror Birds are described as resembling them.[4]

Vvardvark[edit]

The result of a failed experiment by a Telvanni mage, vvardvarks are passive creatures found on Vvardenfell. By the late Third Era, Ash Blight had wiped out Vvardvarks from Vvardenfell.[5]
