Tigonus is a large humid region in northern Hammerfell, specifically in the Iliac Bay region. The coast on the bay is a humid swamp while the interior is a verdant subtropical rainforest.[1] A small island under its jurisdiction can be found northeast of the mainland, near the border to the Dragontail Mountains.[2][3] A large mountain can be found on the edge of Tigonus, near the small bay it shares with Ayasofya, around the Ngonta Valley.[2][UOL 1]

History[edit]

Tigonus is a historical name for the northeast portion of the Iliac Bay's main rocky region west of the Dragontail Mountains, going as far back as 2E 582 of the Interregnum.[4] It bordered the Hollow Wastes to the west and the Fallen Wastes of Bangkorai to the east. The region contained the towns of Kozanset and Satakalaam, and important sites such as the Lost City of the Na-Totambu, the Dwemer ruins Volenfell and Yldzuun, the Yokudan ruin HoonDing's Watch, and the Motalion Necropolis.[4] Tigonus's primary population consists of Redguards but other races and subcultures also live in the region.[2] Barbarians live in places such as the Community of Thoshki and the Stronghold of Nhurhton. Giants live in strongholds such as Rattedred and the Fortress of Thurnem, and harpies roost in dungeons like the Hezdoth Nest and Tower Blallr. Orcs also live in Tigonus ruins like Khiz's Guard and Sekaus.[5] The Anthotis bloodline is the most dominant one in the region.[2] The Haunt of Verezezzar and Castle Viscount Darkomam are examples of vampire haunts in the Tigonus.[5] When the fiefdom was founded is unknown.

In 3E 405, Tigonus briefly existed as a fiefdom. In 3E 417, the Iliac Bay experienced a magical phenomenon known as the Miracle of Peace, which resulted in the annexation of several regions into one of the four active kingdoms. Tigonus, along with the rest of the southern Iliac Bay was absorbed into the Kingdom of Sentinel, at the time ruled by Queen Akorithi.[6] During the war with Mannimarco, a skeletal dragon was sent to attack the forces of Laretha Warhaft stationed in the fortress Kalaan within Tigonus, who managed to defeat it.[UOL 1]

Fiefdom of Tigonus[edit]

The fiefdom of Tigonus was a political entity that briefly existed around 3E 405. It was ruled by an unnamed Lady and its main patron deity was Dibella, who is represented through the House of Dibella temple. At the time, it was neighbored by the Alik'r Desert to the south, Ayasofya to the southwest, and the Dragontail Mountains to the east. Many cities dotted the region's landscape, from both the swamps to the wetlands. These included Antelibuton, Atruza, Bubohabia, Daminia, Gyselah, Kalaan, Kalallaa, Lastabia, Makaja, Makaka-Ij, Makumbazar, Rahnoccosia, Syra-Kom, Wadijuthua, Zagorana, and Zenirijet.[2]
