Bugged Primary Follower[edit]

I have not yet confirmed this, but it appears that by adding a Riekling to your group as your secondary (or pet) follower can bug your Primary followers. I commanded one of my 'tribe-friends' to follow me when I did not have a primary (human) follower, then released him to go home shortly after. The last primary follower I had in my party was Serana from the Dawnguard expansion. When I traveled to see Roggi Knot-beard in Kynesgrove to hire him as my new steward (Hearthfire) he told me I already had a follower. I returned to the last three followers I had enlisted/employed (Serana, Fort Dawnguard; Teldryn Sero, the Wretching Netch; and Lydia, Dragon's Reach), but none of them were currently assigned as followers or were willing to join me because 'I already had a follower'. The only other thing I can think of that might have bugged out my game would be the final quest in the Alduin quest line (Which I'm not going to name due to the risk of spoiling it for someone).

Anyone have any ideas or tips to help me fix the problem? — Unsigned comment by Effigy (talkcontribs) at 22:51 on 26 December 2012‎

Protected status for Riekling followers?[edit]

Anybody know if follower rieklings are protected?

31.185.244.52 19:30, 3 January 2013 (GMT)CBR JGWRR

All followers are protected as long as they are currently with you. Thee rieklings are only protected while they are following you, but they do all respawn. LoftedAphid86 19:47, 3 January 2013 (GMT)
Thanks. 31.185.187.193 21:47, 4 January 2013 (GMT) CBR JGWRR

Incorrect Note[edit]

Rieklings were not invented in 2011 in a "game jam" or any other event. They already existed in the "Bloodmoon" expansion for "Morrowind."

They possibly meant the actual models and coding and so on, rather than being completely new. I do agree it should be changed as at the moment it reads like they were new then... 86.20.216.148 20:08, 4 March 2013 (GMT)CBR JGWRR

Riekling Treasures[edit]

I know that Rieklings are known to hoard random treasures, as mentioned by the loading screens. However, the one thing that seems to show up most often in any place that there are a number of Rieklings (sometimes carried by them) are Statues of Dibella. I feel this might be some sort of joke, possibly an extension of the one written on this page. Schiffy (talk) 16:20, 17 February 2013 (GMT)

The drop is random. —Legoless (talk) 17:10, 17 February 2013 (GMT)
I'm aware, but I'm thinking that there might be some relation (considering these statues are all over their dungeons) with the many Lusty Argonian Maid books and a statue of the Aedra associated with sexual acts. Maybe the Rieklings worship Dibella? Schiffy (talk) 15:32, 18 February 2013 (GMT)

Reiklings Everywhere[edit]

I've had nine Reikling warriors spawn so far, waiting to be picked up as a follower. They most frequently spawn at the exits of dungeons, but I've had them spawn inside dungeons near the exits, and once had one spawn behind the bars near Ildari in High-point tower (which totally distracted her, she started chucking spells at it to kill it which allowed me to sneak up on her and do her in). They only seem to spawn on Solstheim, but there apparently isn't any limit to where they can spawn otherwise. They won't spawn if I already have a follower of any kind, nor will they spawn back on the mainland, but they apparently can spawn pretty much anywhere on Solstheim. 67.0.1.134 09:51, 1 August 2013 (GMT)

This is a known bug documented on the quest page. No fix has been reported yet. — ABCface 12:38, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
Hell, I don't want it fixed, it sometimes is hilarious. Just coming out of the ancient tomb after a hellish fight, and suddenly... "EECHIWAWA!" Funny as hell. 67.0.88.4 15:51, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
I actually had a pair of them appear on the mainland. It was in the Palace of the Kings, after the completion of the civil war quests on the Imperial side. After an extended battle with the banished Jarls, their housecarls, and around 20+ Imperial guards, two Riekling warriors suddenly appeared and proceeded to kill the few remaining guards and chase the surrendering Jarls around the palace.--24.143.104.62 23:49, 18 August 2013 (GMT)
Why did you have to battle the jarls and their housecarls in the Palace of the Kings? Did you have any kind of mod installed? —MortenOSlash (talk) 04:49, 19 August 2013 (GMT)
You don't have to battle them, the anon probably just attacked them (thus the guards). —Legoless (talk) 17:02, 19 August 2013 (GMT)

() Yes as I well know, there is no need to massacre the hostages, but doing it anyway would of course explain all the Imperial guards, if that was what it was. I found that partially explained background information confusing. Of course that still does not in itself explain any appearance of rieklings, so the question about mods installed is still standing on its own.—MortenOSlash (talk) 19:08, 19 August 2013 (GMT)

The rieklings showing up is a known bug, as mentioned above. It does happen for players on Xbox and Playstation as well as PC, so even if mods are affecting the editor's game, they aren't the sole cause of this bug. — ABCface 19:32, 19 August 2013 (GMT)
Argh! Sorry! I do have to read more carefully before answering. To my feeble attempts to defence I have to say I have played a few hundred hours after installing all three DLCs myself without any rieklings appearing outside Solstheim. —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:40, 19 August 2013 (GMT)
haha, it's all good. It only happens if you help out the Riekling Chief anyway, so if you didn't do that and helped out the Nords instead, that would be a definite reason you haven't encountered the bug. Plus, as with all bugs, they don't happen to everyone. :) — ABCface 20:49, 19 August 2013 (GMT)

Rieklings wielding bows[edit]

In the description of the Rieklings, it says that the Riekling Scout is the only one that can wield an equipped bow, but after experimenting I found it was actually the Riekling Warrior. If someone could confirm that, that would be great. — Unsigned comment by 24.19.226.237 (talk) at 00:17 on 21 August 2013 (GMT)

I can confirm that a Warrior will use a bow on Xbox 360. My Riekling Warrior, taken from outside of Thirsk Mead Hall (not from random encounter), uses a bow and arrows. I haven't tested any other Rieklings, but mine refuses to equip a Greatsword but will always equip a bow if given to him. Also using the bow consumes ammo like normal (before giving him a bow, I gave him one Dragonbone arrow and he threw them infinitely; post-bow, he consumes arrows at an extremely high rate).
I read some where else that the difference was between whether you recruited one from the Hall versus one from a random encounter. Random encounter ones should wield Greatswords; Thirsk Mead Hall ones should wield bows. I have not tested this though.Chichian (talk) 23:54, 31 October 2013 (GMT)

Mounted[edit]

are the Mounted Riekling's and the boars they ride Seprate beings or are they the same entity like in Bloodmoon? 66.186.66.3 14:18, 29 August 2013 (GMT) Dunehelm

They are treated as one creature in Dragonborn, not separate. — ABCface 15:28, 29 August 2013 (GMT)

Riekling follower equipment[edit]

My Riekling Warrior(variant from outside Thirsk hall) not only wields a bow from range and Stormfang for melee but also equips improved/enchanted armor and jewelry that I have traded to him. The gear isn`t visible except on his inventory screen but it is very obviously benefiting him to have it. Xbox - Adam Warlock — Unsigned comment by 98.157.24.218 (talk) at 19:00 on 7 March 2014
