Possible bug?[edit]

When I enter to soak the taproots, the quest Filial Bonds updates saying that Torkild has been killed. This may be a bug? — Unsigned comment by 101.162.71.98 (talk) at 02:16 on 20 February 2013‎ (GMT)

Prerequisite quest incorrect?[edit]

I got this quest when I had the objective to go to the temple for the first time still.--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 08:24, 7 April 2013 (GMT)

I remember getting the quest from Elynea during a very early stage of the main quest as well. So I tried this: I loaded a save just before arriving at Raven Rock for the first time, jumped into the water before even talking to Adril Arano and swam to Tel Mithryn. I entered the apothecary, talked to Elynea - my very first conversation on Solstheim - and received the quest. Krusty added the prerequisite quest to the article when he revamped it in his sandbox. I’ll leave a message about this discussion on his talk page. --Holomay (talk) 13:03, 10 April 2013 (GMT)
I can confirm this too. --Jimeee (talk) 13:34, 10 April 2013 (GMT)
To all appearances in the CK, this quest is available from the moment you arrive in Solstheim. I see nothing that suggests that any other quest is ever required. Just to double-check, I also loaded an old game and travelled to Solstheim for the first time in that game, ignored everything and headed straight to Tel Mithryn. Elynea offered me the quest immediately. Given the preponderance of evidence, I'll remove the prerequisite quest from the article. Robin Hood  (talk) 18:06, 10 April 2013 (GMT)

Possible Glitch with this quest.[edit]

After doing some research, I've found that I'm not the only person to encounter a problem with this quest. When it comes time to soak the Taproots, the prompt displays, however nothing happens when the button is pressed. I'm playing on the PS4, and I have played on the PS3 as well, but never had this issue on that system. I had previously visited the cave and killed the Spriggan Matron, not sure if this is what triggered the glitch. — Unsigned comment by 68.145.158.148 (talk) at 03:11 on 18 June 2019

It's possible that having visited the cave before might be triggering the problem, yeah. We've seen that sort of thing before on occasion. On a PS4, I don't think there's much you can do, though. I'll try to replicate this on the PC and see if I can figure anything out, but in the meantime, I've added the bug to the page. Robin Hood  (talk) 08:07, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
Possible fix: I was playing on PS4 (Special Edition) with the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (USSEP) installed when I had this issue. I removed the USSEP and reload the game and I was able to soak the Taproots. 81.0.33.20 09:15, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

"possibly as the result of having visited the cave previously"[edit]

Having tested this several times in the last week or so (headwaters bugged 3 times on 3 different characters) I'm confident that visiting the cave beforehand is not the cause of this bug on PS4.

I hadn't been to the cave prior to taking this quest the first time, but the language used in the bug description made me doubt myself enough that I've checked again on 2 different playthroughs since then. Each time the interact prompt appears properly but "activating" the headwaters does nothing. The cause is still unknown and there's no known fix on consoles, so I'm just going to remove the "possibly" phrase from the bug description to prevent people from second-guessing themselves. Reloading an older save and losing progress to try and "fix" the bug (by avoiding the cave) won't help them.81.153.187.6 07:52, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

TapRoot guaranteed locations[edit]

On an unmarked island north of Frossel you will find three spriggans, all of them carrying taproot. - With the Unofficial patch installed, latest GOG LE version, I've gotten 2 Spriggans and 1 Spriggan matron. The first normal one did NOT drop Taproot (only Spriggan sap, an option introduced by the Unofficial patch).--Piotr chylarecki (talk) 04:59, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
