Essential-ness?[edit]

Okay, so we know that Frea is essential during the quests she is involved in, and we know she can be a permanent follower if you pass a persuasion check. My question is, does she stay essential even after her quests are done? Like, would she still be essential after the main quest is complete? Many essential NPCs lose their essential flag after their quest(s) are complete, does that apply to Frea? - TheGrayThunder (talk) 19:18, 17 December 2012 (GMT)

Frea is still essential as of the main quest ending. LoftedAphid86 21:32, 17 December 2012 (GMT)

frea dual welding[edit]

I saw frea dual welding two axes I wonder can she do that to other weapons — Unsigned comment by 108.29.75.227 (talk) at 22:03 on 29 December 2012

I gave her Miraak's Sword and Staff, and she was dual-wielding them, so the answer seems to be yes. - TheGrayThunder (talk) 06:48, 30 December 2012 (GMT)
Almost any character (well, probably every last NPC who fights in the game, now that I think about it...) who can be a temporary or permanent follower can dual wield with a regular weapon and a staff. Dual wielding with two serious one-handed weapons though? Not so much. There are a few that can dual wield with two two weapons, but not very many, and I can't think of anyone else who actually dual wields regular one-handed weapons besides her (Well I can't think of two, but I don't consider whatever Annekke Crag-Jumper and Derkeethus do with a pickaxe to be dual wielding...man, they need to fix that!). --Timfever (talk) 15:21, 1 February 2013 (GMT)
Frea , Ralis Sedarys , Rayya , and Jenassa are natural dual-wielders . Adam Warlock — Unsigned comment by 98.157.24.218 (talk) at 17:08 on 10 February 2013

Amulet[edit]

Is there only 1 Skaal amulet in the game? I don't know since I'm a PC user. Her page says "unique", but the amulet is listed at Skyrim:Clothing. Can some xbox user confirm this? The amulet may need to be moved to unique items. ~ Psylocke 10:52, 5 January 2013 (GMT)

As far as I can tell, she is the only one who has one. I gave her legendary tempered fur armor to see what it looked like. It is light blue token shaped amulet with some kind of rune on it with blue beads holding it together. I gave here the locket of Saint Jiub and she equipped that instead but the Skaal Amulet never showed up in her inventory. I'm pretty sure it is unattainable.99.29.166.214 17:45, 10 January 2013 (GMT)
Ildari Sarothril also wears one I believe. Jeancey (talk) 17:50, 10 January 2013 (GMT)
Incorrect on Ildari, she wears an unobtainable heartstone necklace. I assumed that the Skaal amulet was unique when adding that to this article because of the dialogue related to the amulet in-game. I didn't even realize it was on the standard clothing page, but I just checked with Alfwyn and it is definitely unique according to game data. I'll move it now. — ABCface 18:42, 10 January 2013 (GMT)
If anyone finds a way to obtain this amulet, be sure to let us know. --BlackhawkXIII (talk) 20:55, 3 February 2013 (GMT)
I was able to just take it from her by trading once I had recruited her as a follower. I... don't think any of my mods would have caused that to happen. However, it's useless since it doesn't seem to be enchantable. I was able to select it at the Enchanting table but when I went to select an enchantment, everything was grayed out. -Trogdor
When she wears other amulet you can dismiss her and pickpocket her skaal amulet. 117.176.217.191 09:18, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Light Armor specialization?[edit]

On the page it lists one of her primary skills as Light Armor. Considering she has Heavy for her default armor, is this information correct? It doesn't seem to make much sense that she'd wear Heavy when she specializes in Light. 173.57.113.249 19:07, 16 January 2013 (GMT)

There are a few examples of NPCs not wearing the gear that they are proficient in. The skills are determined by her class, so more than likely someone just copied a class for her skills and forgot to change it to heavy armor. Jeancey (talk) 19:15, 16 January 2013 (GMT)
When using Ultimate Follower Overhaul, asking "So what are you good at" reveals that Frea's Light armor skill is very high - 100 if I remember correctly. She equips about any Light armor that you give her, and she receives a lot better protection from it (also shown with UFO). (90.230.113.46 08:16, 15 February 2013 (GMT))
Unofficial Dragonborn Patch (v 1.0.2) makes her favor Heavy armor instead of Light armor, since her default armor is heavy. It makes sense (although I personally think that this will make her a bit less interesting). 81.233.6.131 21:11, 18 March 2013 (GMT)
I was looking at her stats on the PC and her Heavy Armor skill is pretty high, while her Light Armor skill is at starting values. I suppose it could be the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch that did it. But, if it's not, it would seem that the game is saying something different than the site is. Blackbird 4 (talk) 18:04, 10 June 2013 (GMT)
It is in fact the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch that did that, and not the official game. The changes are noted on this page, and I've updated the article accordingly. — ABCface 19:08, 10 June 2013 (GMT)

Unique Dialogue[edit]

She has unique dialogue when she is a quest follower at the Temple of Miraak. Also, I just found she has a bit more to say while you're going through Nchardak with Neloth, so be sure to bring her along for that. -Trogdor

You are right and at one point Neloth reacts to something she says. However she leaves after the quest and cannot be recruited as a follower again until you have killed Miraak.

Won't follow me.[edit]

Am on Cleansing the Stones/The Gardener of Men. She refused my coin and the persuasion check. Saying she had no need of my coin/her people needed her here. Is Cleansing the Stones also a prerequisite?Grelaria (talk) 07:48, 16 April 2013 (GMT)

After learning the second word of bend will she is unavailable as follower until Miraak is killed.— Unsigned comment by 82.73.72.148 (talk) at 15:07 on 10 May 2013

Heal other[edit]

Will she heal the player if shes a follower or is heal other in her spell list for show?--82.46.168.98 21:19, 25 April 2013 (GMT)

It's there for show, like any other NPC follower who has that spell. VycDarkshadow (talk) 07:01, 1 February 2014 (GMT)

The Path of Knowledge[edit]

Frea has a rather large amount of quest-specific knowledge for this quest. Should it be added here or on the quest page? --Morrolan (talk) 04:37, 28 August 2014 (GMT)

Savage Strike perk[edit]

I was mortified a while ago, seeing Frea cutting someone's head off. It does not make any sense for her to have this perk. She is a shaman for Kyne's sake.

Is there a way to prevent her from doing that? (without the console if possible)

62.195.45.181 18:40, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

The only way to do that without the console would be to create a mod that removes the perk. If you're looking to do it without the console, then I'm assuming you don't want to make a mod, either. :) Robin Hood  (talk) 15:11, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
I wouldn't mind using the console or making a mod, except I'm on PS3. 62.195.45.181 20:29, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

She Won't Follow Me...[edit]

I killed mirak but she still doesn't follow me... — Unsigned comment by 178.162.216.35 (talk) at 01:50 on 4 November 2016

That's not very much to go on. Do you mean you can't make her a follower or that you have experienced the bug listed on the page and it hasn't resolved as described? Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 02:32, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

No Quest Jumping For You[edit]

With the help of the "Live Another Life" mod, I found myself at the Temple of Miraak before actually starting the main game's main quest (mostly to see if I could start the main Dragonborn quest without my character actually being known as Dragonborn) and discovered that Frea wasn't there, meaning no, I could not. I'd like someone else to confirm this before adding this to the main page. Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 16:33, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

My current character (with no quest mods) wandered over to Solstheim before being "invited" -- just went to Windhelm and took the boat. I did notice that Frea was not there yet. So go ahead and add that. Shmoot (talk) 18:01, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
No. Mod influenced behaviour is not notable on our pages. Unless you have tested with a completely clean save file and she doesn't appear outside the temple, then nothing you report can be added. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:41, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
I confirmed in the CK, then re-confirmed in an unmodded game, that this is the default behaviour if you're in Solstheim, but haven't yet started Dragonborn. While it's certainly an unusual way to play, it's not impossible by any means. Robin Hood  (talk) 23:19, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

Frea is not at the Skaal Village after defeating Miraak[edit]

After finishing the main quest by killing Miraak and returning to the skaal village, Frea is nowhere to be found, she's not walking around in the village or in her hut. I've waited three days and she's not showing up. is this a bug? I'm on Xbox one.
