Chapter V[edit]

In Chapter V, the last section of the Black Book's dungeon, there are two hallways that branch off from the main path, behind doorways. The Scryes that open these doorways are on the other side of the door. Does anyone know how to get back there, or if it is even possible. LoveWaffle (talk) 08:14, 28 December 2012 (GMT)

I came in to ask the same thing. Mikerobmma (talk) 12:10, 22 January 2013 (GMT)
Please see the update in notes section. I do not know what the difference is between two configurations.QuNybble talk 0028-16Apr2013(MDT)
It's quite simple, first it shifts to the left, makes you follow the path and kill a lurker by the way, proceed and eventually you'll see a gate and a scrye to open it. You should find yourself in the same place again, enter the tunnel again, it should shift right this time, follow the path and do the very same thing as you just did on the left side, there'll be another lurker to kill. Once you go through you should find yourself in the very same place again. This time when you enter the tunnel it should let you go straight forward. -- HellRider (talk) 05:54, 7 July 2013 (GMT)
Ok, I have played this through several times, but I have never got it to go to the other configurations. What am I missing? Tried going back to Solstheim and re-entering, going from Ch V to Ch III, not much else I can do! AyaHawkeye (talk) 21:39, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Best Reward[edit]

Which of these is the best to choose from? The merchant or butler? both are useful as one can carry the weight since a lot equipment can be found in dungeons while the other is a guarantee to get daedric equipment and he has 2000 gold, so selling stuff a lot of stuff is easier. 217.137.157.197 01:58, 1 March 2013 (GMT)

It's simply a matter of preference, there isn't one "best" reward for all players. Depending on your playstyle and what would be most useful for your particular character or playthrough, one reward may be better than another. — ABCface 03:27, 1 March 2013 (GMT)
However, given the very limited carry limit of the butler, something that does not apply to the vendor it could be argued that the vendor is the more versatile option to pick. -Kharay (talk) 08:45, 16 April 2013 (GMT)
Assume that the Butler would only be used to carry loot, and the Merchant would only be used to sell loot. A high-level character would usually first find 148 "weight units" of good loot long after he found enough loot to sell for 2000 gold. (The Dremora Merchant buys loot at stiff prices compared to other merchants anyway.) If the Dremora is only used to enhance looting potential, then the Butler would easily be the better choice than the Vendor for any character of high enough level to get to Solstheim and grab this book. So, to me, it's really a matter of whether the Butler or Drum is more useful. It depends on how much stamina you use and how much stamina you have, I suppose. --50.88.131.73 18:03, 25 April 2014 (GMT)
The usefulness of the butler is a lot less once you realise you only get him for 15 seconds at a time. Biffa (talk) 18:31, 25 April 2014 (GMT)
Butler stays for 15 seconds BUT you can call him anytime again later to get your items back or give more to carry Ciberzombie (talk) 04:04, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
