Edla

Edla is a Nord alchemist living in Skaal Village. She lives in her house with her son, Nikulas.

Edla is quite worried about her son, Nikulas, who wants to leave Skaal Village for a life of adventure. You can help her to convince him to stay in Skaal Village and she will be very grateful to you.

She wears a Skaal coat with matching boots and hat. She carries a one-handed weapon, her house key, and a selection of common items and gold.

Dialogue[edit]

Her greetings:

"I have goods to offer, if you have need."
"It's been many winters since my husband returned to the All-Maker, but my heart still aches from the loss."
"It brings me great comfort to know that Nikulas will stay. I thank you, outsider."
"My son and I gather items to trade with travelers who visit the village."
"My son's heart was restless. He wanted to see the world beyond our lands, and nothing I said could change his mind."
"My son's heart is restless. He wants to see the world beyond our lands, and nothing I say will change his mind."
Who do you trade with?
"Many hunters pass through our village, and sometimes the Dark Elves of Raven Rock visit us. They bring us things from their homeland that we can't find on the island, such as spices, fine cloth and ores that we cannot mine here. It's true we Skaal prefer a simpler life than some, but we do still enjoy a luxury from time to time."
What have you got for sale?
"Mostly things from the village or the land around it. Have a look."
"Among other things, I have some fresh bread I baked this morning and vegetables from Finna's garden."
"I gathered some plants that are useful for making potions, but I have other goods as well."

Her goodbyes:

"I am grateful for your interest in my goods."
"Be always warm, Skaal-friend."
"May the sun light your path."
"All-Maker bless you, friend of the Skaal."
"Thank you, outsider."

Quest-Related Dialogue[edit]

Convince Nikulas to stay in Skaal Village[edit]

Who's your son?
"His name is Nikulas. He's a good lad, strong and loyal. I only wish he wasn't so eager to leave the village. I've tried to tell him that the world beyond our lands is dangerous and cruel, but he won't listen."
I could talk to him.
"You would do that? I know he would listen to you. You've been out there in the wide world. You know its perils. Yes, perhaps you can convince him. I would be grateful if you would do this thing, outsider."
Maybe you should let him go.
"Perhaps someday I will have to, but for now I need Nikulas here. You see, his father, my husband, was recently lost to us. Nikulas is all that I have left in this world. I know it is selfish of me to say so, but I cannot lose him. Not while I still grieve. Also, I know his heart. Nikulas is reckless and foolish, like most young men. He cannot understand what awaits him in the wide world."

After offering to help, if you speak to her, she will have a couple new greetings:

"If Nikulas leaves me now, I will be truly alone."
"If Nikulas leaves, I fear he will never return."
"I hope that you can make my son see wisdom."

Once you return:

Nikulas has agreed to stay.
"May the All-Maker bless you with many sons and daughters, outsider. Once again you have shown that you are a true friend of the Skaal. I wish that I could give you a reward that is equal to the joy in my heart, but I don't have much to offer one who has so much already. Perhaps these will prove useful to you. These herbs are unique to the island, and their like cannot be found elsewhere."
