Location(s): Any Noble
Reward: Random gold
Reputation Gain: see Reputation Gain/Loss
ID: r0c10y12
Required Reputation: 10 reputation or more
Difficulty: Easy

It's better not to ask how the noble comes into possession of things like this Aegrotat

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to a noble.
  2. Head to the town where the contact is staying.
  3. Give the contraband to the contact within the time limit and collect your reward.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Nondescript lodgings are frequently used for illicit purposes
The contact is discreet, and encourages you to be as well

An Awkward Situation[edit]

Speak to a noble, who says:

"Yes, this is a potentially awkward situation I'm in. Not the worst, but awkward indeed. I'm in possession of a certain ... item that is not, to be blunt, legally mine. If you would carry it a [sic] contact of mine in (town), you will be handsomely rewarded. Does (random gold) gold pieces sound fair to you?"

Accept[edit]

The noble goes on:

"You will help me? (random god) be praised. Now, hurry, take this (contraband) and go to (building) in (town). Look for a (contact's description) named (contact's name). Don't think about taking the (contraband) elsewhere. If you're not in (building) in (time limit) days, (contact's name) will come looking for you. Now, hurry, time is of the essence."

Decline[edit]

The noble answers:

"You abandon me in my hour of need, young (player's race). I am sorely displeased."

Deliver the Package[edit]

This quest is yet another simple delivery; you will not encounter any enemies on this one. Travel quickly to the town the noble mentioned, as the time limit is rather tight. Find your contact by asking around. Go to the contact's residence and hand over the contraband to get your reward. The building where the contact is staying may be locked, so be prepared to pick the lock or have an Open spell ready.

Reward[edit]

When you deliver the contraband, your contact will say:

"Good day, (player's first name). I'm (contact's name). Thank you for your discretion in this matter. You will find that discretion is a valuable quality. Here is your payment. Good day."

Enemies[edit]

  • None

Notes[edit]

  • If you keep the contraband, it will remain in your inventory and won't vanish once the quest is over, as is usually the case for quest items.

Additional Dialogue[edit]

If you ask an NPC about the noble, you may hear:

  • "(Noble's name) is a rather small-time ruler, but a big-time (contraband) smuggler."
  • "(Noble's name)'s in over (his/her) head in this (contraband) smuggling business."

If you ask an NPC about the noble's contact, you may be told:

  • "Supposedly (contact's name) is a fence for stolen merchandise."
  • "(Contact's name), eh? A mysterious (contact's description) who operates out of (building), (direction) of here."

After you have accepted this quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "Those guards are even searching (noble's name)'s house for that (contraband) shipment."
  • "It's a complete mystery where that (contraband) disappeared. Everyone's curious."

If you fail the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "What an embarassment [sic] for (noble's name). The stolen (contraband) was traced to (him/her)."
  • "I hear (noble's name) tried to smuggle the (contraband) to (town)."

If you successfully complete the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "The guards have given up their search for that stolen (contraband)."
  • "Imagine them suspecting that (noble's name) had something to do with that (contraband)."

If you successfully complete the quest, the quest giver may later greet you with:

  • "Lovely to see you again, (player's first name). I understand that your mission was accomplished."
  • "I'm glad you returned, (player's first name). You helped me out of a potential embarrassment."

If you failed the quest, the quest giver will greet you with:

  • "My contact says you never arrived. That was very unprofessional, (player's first name). Now leave me. I have work to do."
